Akismet anti-spam service
Do you spending more time deleting spam than creating your wordpress blog content? Now Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it. You can review the spam it catches under “Comments.” Now you write your blog without spending more time on delete spam. It’s GREAT!
If you wish to show off your Akismet stats, just put < ?php akismet_counter(); ?> in your template.
How to activate Akismet in your blog?
- Dowload Akismet plugin and Unzip it
- Upload the plugin file to your WordPress plugins directory inside of wp-content.
- Activate it from the plugins menu inside of WordPress.
- Enter your API key.
- Forget that spam was ever a problem.
NOTE: you do need at least WordPress version 2.0 or above for everything to work. The latest version of the plugin is 2.0.
